I heart Design: The dress made of milk.

Anke Domaske is a designer from Germany whose textile innovation grabbed my attention when it was featured in the Q4 2011 Design Digest, given to the media as part of the press pack for the 2012 Design Indaba. Get this: She has created a fabric consisting of an isolated milk protein called casein, which has actually been used in textiles for a while (knitting yarns), but never in this way before. Qmilch looks like silk but behaves like cotton, and is environmentally friendly since it makes use of milk that has been rejected for consumption standards. The textile is a little pricey, but has potential for mass production, so it could become more accesible in years ahead. A few designs created with Qmilch:
